Allu Arjun gets interim bail by high court in Pushpa 2 stampede case

In a dramatic turn of events, actor Allu Arjun was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court on Friday in connection with the tragic stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident, which occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, claimed the life of a woman and left her son injured.

Allu Arjun, who was arrested earlier in the day from his home by Hyderabad Police, moved the High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him. Granting him interim relief, the court emphasized the actor’s right to life and liberty. "We will grant interim bail for a certain period, and let them avail appropriate remedies meanwhile," the judge stated, according to Bar and Bench.

The tragedy unfolded when an overwhelming number of fans gathered to see the actor at the theatre’s premiere event. A stampede-like situation ensued, leading to the unfortunate death of the woman. The deceased’s family lodged a complaint at the Chikkadpally police station, resulting in a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The actor has been under intense scrutiny since the incident, although he announced ₹25 lakh in financial assistance to the deceased woman’s family. Adding complexity to the case, the victim’s husband revealed on Friday afternoon that he intended to withdraw the complaint, stating that he did not hold the actor responsible for the stampede.

Legal proceedings intensified earlier in the week when Arjun approached the High Court to quash the FIR, seeking a stay on all proceedings, including his arrest. The court’s decision to grant interim bail provides the actor with temporary relief while the case continues.
